Our Story
Summerhill Guest Estate was started 25 years ago in 1997, by Christine Richter. Having moved her young family from Germany, Christine set-about establishing the Guest House.
Based on her working background from corporate and travel, Christine opened Summerhill Guest Estate – a family managed, sustainability-led, luxury guesthouse, in KwaZulu Natal. It’s unique location in Cowies Hill makes it the ideal home-away-from-home for corporate travelers, or the perfect half way stop between the Drakensberg / Hluhluwe iMfolozi park and Durban for leisure seekers.
Culinary Getaway
In 2017, The LivingRoom opened on the premise of bringing a supper club to life at Summerhill Guest Estate. Johannes, having returned home from abroad with his wife, Johanna, set about opening a fine-dining destination in Cowies Hill. Johannes runs the kitchen while Johanna runs the front of house and the wine programe.
